rain pelting hard against
my window
tap tap-tap tap tap
strong winds whooshing
like a fast train passing by
snuggled in my bed
our home so cozy
with a good book
by lamplight
and a sense of peace
after a day well spent
children happy
a little quality time
out in the fresh air
with a friend
at the table
with each other
in our rooms
with ourselves
enjoying
our companions
the fruits of our labor
some work well done
some learning created
groceries bought and shelved
tummies full
ready for slumber
as the storm continues on
outside
unabated
and we wait
for the vaccine
